Introduction

The China Aerodynamics Research and Development Centre (CARDC) and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) established a long-term cooperation and exchange relationship after the Director of CARDC Xiangxin Ruan visited Professor Yu Zhou’s fluid dynamics laboratories at PolyU in 2009. The Director of Low Speed Aerodynamics Institute (LSI) of CARDC Professor Kunlong Yu signed an agreement in 2010 with Professor Yu Zhou from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at PolyU on the collaboration in research and technology development and personnel training. During Professor Yu Zhou’s subsequent visit to CARDC in 2010, both sides decided to hold a joint symposium series on fluid-structure-sound interactions and control. The First Symposium was organised by CARDC in July 2011. The symposium series has traditionally covered the fluid-structures-sound interactions and control. It provides a forum for academics, scientists and engineers working in all related branches to exchange and share the latest progress, ideas and advances, and to bring them together, from both East and West, to chart the frontiers of FSSIC.
Awards:
Starting in 2013, three student prizes are given to best student presentations at the Symposium on Fluid-Structure-Sound Interactions and Control.
